Health & Fitness Week
Last week at BIST was Health & Fitness Week. Obviously, we hope that students are trying to be healthy and fit throughout the year, but this week gives us the opportunity to focus on various aspects of Health & Fitness. During the week, there were a range of sporting and fitness events as well as healthy snacks available and awareness sessions on the topic. The week ended for our Secondary students with two healthy alternatives – the inter-house swimming gala or a hike in the Lisi area. The swimming gala was a great event and our Secondary students travelled to Gldani Nadzaladevi Complex Sports Center for our first swimming gala following COVID.
Students participated in 50m freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. There were some fantastic performances and a good number of exciting races. The gala finished with the prize ceremony. The overall winning house were the Panthers, with the Leopards in second, Pumas in third and Tigers in fourth. Mr. Yang congratulates all students who took part in the swimming gala and says well done to all our winners. A special note for Aliaksei from Year 9 was the champion in all his events. He swam the 50m freestyle in 28 seconds and in the butterfly event, he even swam with the year 12 and 13 students and still became champion. Non-swimmers participated on a 15km hike along the Lisi Ridge to experience some of the wonderful countryside near school.
